Your online identity is a big part of who you are these days. A phenomenon that started with so called geeks in the bedroom has now spread so far that even in big business you have to have an online identity. Being online is part of the way that we network now and that is not going to change any time soon. If you want to be able to meet people in your industry or in any industry that might be able to help your bottom line then you have to be online. Even if you do not have the latest social networking account then you at least have to have an email address. And this is not going go away any time soon. As the years go by your online presence is only going to become more important. So you need to make sure you are able to control as much of it as you can. And there is one place that you have to start to be able to do that.
And that place that you have to start is with your password. Your password is the key to keeping your online identity safe. There are a lot of bad guys who like to get into online accounts and take control of them. There are a number of reasons why they do this and most of them end in making money somehow. But there are a lot of bad guys out there who do not care about making money. There are some people out there who just want to be able to break into your online account just so that they can get information about you. They want to be able to know private details about you and so that means they will do whatever they can to break into your online accounts. You see this happen in celebrity cases a lot. Just recently we saw someone who broke into the mobile phone of actress Scarlett Johansson get ten years of jail time for releasing nude pictures of her. But do not think that this is only a problem that happens with celebrities. This type of thing is happen to a bunch of people these days. And that is why you need to be sure that you are safe when it comes to your password.
If you have more than one online account then you should be sure that you have more than one password as well. It does not make sense in this day and age for people to still be using the same password on all of the sites that they belong to. I know that it is easier this way but it is also a lot more dangerous. There have been warning after warning for people to not do this but yet you still see it being done. The bad guys online are hoping that you do this. You make their job a lot easier than it normally would be. All they have to do is find one of your accounts access points and then they have them all. But if you have a single password for each account that you belong to then they have to take the time to break into each one of them.
Most people have two identities these days. They have their online identity and they have their offline identity. Make sure you are able to protect your online identity with the use of the proper password usage. If you do not then you might find that the bad guys have more access than you believe.
