You know you’re winning when…

My daughter (a young teen) has just sent me this:

iPhone-warning

!!!! IPHONE USERS WARNING !!!!

DO NOT ENTER YOUR PASSCODE IF YOU SEE THIS POP UP ON YOUR iPhone!

This appeared on my phone this morning and I thought it was a bit suspicious. I googled it and there were a few instances of it happening to others but no definitive answers on the Apple discussion board.

So I took my phone to the Apple Store and they told me that it was most definitely MALWARE phishing for my password and to restore my phone to factory settings and change my password immediately!

So if you see the same message on your phone DO NOT enter your passcode or you will be putting all of your personal information including saved credit card numbers and contacts at risk.

Given that she came across it via Facebook, I suspect it may be some type of hoax… but I’m going to look deeper into it nonetheless.

Either way, I’m very proud of the fact that she already has a degree of security awareness that prompts her to look out for the unusual and question everything.

Thanks girl!
