Which Computer Security Conferences Should I Attend This Season?

When you think about people who work with computers the normal stereotype is not someone who likes to be social.

Usually, it is a computer geek sitting alone in his basement not speaking to anyone except maybe on IRC.

But in this day and age, this is not the case.

People from all walks of life work on computers now and a lot of them are pretty social too!

This is proven by the number of conferences that are out there for people who work on computers.

Some of the most popular conferences are the computer security conferences that happen in the summertime.

If you are into computer security and you want to meet a bunch of likeminded people, then you should really think about going to one of these conferences.

You will have a lot of fun and start to feel really connected by the positive energy in the room.

The Most Popular Computer Security Conference

One of the most popular computer security conferences around is called Def Con.

It was not the first computer security to be created but it is one of the most well known.

Every year in the summer, thousands of hackers both black hat and white hat; descend on Las Vegas to enjoy talking about computer security.

The conference is known for its electronic badges and the pranks that the attendees play on the other visitors staying at the hotel at the same time.

The event is so popular that there has been several documentaries and news stories written about it over the years.

If you want a conference that is known for its fun as much as its educational aspects, then Def Con is a conference that you will want to visit.

More Serious Computer Conferences

Even though Def Con might be the most famous of the computer security conferences that happen in the summer, it is not the only one.

There are several other conferences that happen around this time as well.

Another one of the more famous conferences is known as the Black Hat security conference.

This conference is more serious than Def Con and people are there for education first and foremost.

There may be plenty of time to goof around after the sessions are over but during the sessions it is all about learning to better yourself as a computer security specialist.

If you want to go to a conference that you will be sure to learn something about your chosen field, then the Black Hat conference is definitely one that you should attend.

Other Conferences

As I said earlier in the article, summer is known for having a bunch of computer security conference events happening during the three months.

Other events that you can attend are the Hope conference, Notacon (which is held more near the summer in April than actually in the summer), Summercon and several others.

Even though there are computer security conferences held all year long, the summer is the best time to attend one.

You Should Go

If you ever get a chance to go to a computer security conference then you should.

You are sure to have fun.
