What Do You Do When You Are Not Sure About The Security Of Some Of Your Favourite Web Sites?

Being able to surf the web is one of the pure joys of the modern age. Sure most people like to be able to get out of the house every now and then and get off of the computer so they can enjoy life. And that is what you are supposed to do. But there is always that time when you are ready to relax and that is the time you have to spend behind the computer when you are not working. In the past this would have been the time you spent watching TV. Now instead of watching TV you are using your brain and interacting with the computer.

are your favourite sites secure

And these days there are more sites than ever for you to choose from. A decade ago there were probably only ten million websites in existence. That is a lot but it is not a lot when you consider that almost half a million new websites go online every day now. That is a lot of information on the web and that means there is a lot of information for you to explore. No matter what kind of interest that you have, you will see something that you are interested in on the web.

But what happens when you do not feel safe on the website that you are going to. Yes, the website may have all of the information that you are looking for but when if you do not feel comfortable on the site? What options do you have to choose from? That is what we are going to take a look at in this article. There are a lot of websites on the web that are not safe, even if the owners do not know that they are not safe. So you must be ready to make moves to stop your computer or smartphone from becoming infected on sites such as these.

The first thing that you have to look at is whether you are being paranoid or are you in real danger. Do not get me wrong, being paranoid is a good thing on the web. It is able to keep you safe a lot of the time. But if you are paranoid about a site that you really enjoy then you should really be sure of the security deficiencies before you condemn it and never visit the site again.

First of all, you should consider who the people are who made the site. Are they a major company or is it someone’s site that is done in their spare time? While we are not saying that a major company’s website cannot be unsafe, there is less likelihood of that happening. They are worried about being sued so they put all that they can into security. It may not always work but they are at least attempting to try. Someone who is building websites on their own will have fewer resources to pull from when it comes to security. They most likely will have to learn it on their own. If you have to learn it on your own then that means you are far from a master and there will probably be holes in your system. You just have to be sure that the holes are not major ones.

If as the end user you are not sure of the site then you have two options. You can stop visiting the site altogether or you can use a virtual machine to visit the site. That way any damage that is done will be done to the virtual machine and not your actual computer.

  1. My virus protection alerted me to a threat several days ago, looking to see where it was coming from it seems it was coming from one of my rss feeds. Once i deleted the feed it was over – black hole exploit kit.
