PayPal accounts can be extremely useful if you purchase goods or services online or make a living on the web.

Unfortunately, however, they are also coveted by fraudsters who see them as an easy means of making money for themselves.

If you have a PayPal account for eBay or any other purpose then the following article will give you some tips for keeping it secure.

The first, and probably most important, tip for keeping your PayPal account secure is password security.

It sounds obvious but you’d be be surprised at how many people protect their PayPal accounts with easy to guess passwords, such as their name!

Instead, you should choose something that is much harder to guess.

Additionally, you would be well advised to use different passwords for every account you have online, be it an email account, eBay, forum or anything else.

That way, if someone were to gain access to one account they wouldn’t have automatic access to all your others.

My second tip would be to invest in a PayPal security key.

At first glance it may appear to be an inconvenience – you have to have the security key to hand every time you wish to login to PayPal and then you have to type in a 6 digit code after typing in your password – but its definitely worth the peace of mind it brings.

Thus far, I have yet to hear of any account that uses the security key being taken over and it only costs $5.

I’ve got one myself and its great knowing that I’m secure every time I log in to PayPal.
