KillRDLL.A sounds like something out of an 80s hash and slash horror film doesn’t it?

killrddl.a trojan

In reality, however, KillRDDL.A is in fact a Trojan that replicates itself every time a user accesses a directory.

The Trojan tricks users by appearing to be a  Windows folder icon but actually has a hidden extension.

The folders created by KillRDDL.A have been spotted with various names including -

  • Angelina Jolie
  • Clips
  • Documents
  • Favorites
  • Flash Games
  • Games
  • My Documents
  • My Folder
  • Picture
  • Video
  • WallPapers

Note though that whenever the Trojan is executed it opens a web page that contains false results.
