What Is A Trojan Horse?

trojan horseTrojan Horses are similar in ways to computer viruses except for the fact that they do not attempt to replicate themselves.

A trojan horse will execute some sort of undesirable operation on the host system, in addition to the function for which they would appear to be suited to.

A good example would be a fake login program which would ask the user to enter account information and passwords in much the same way that a genuine script would.

Just like in Homer’s Iliad, the trojan is disguised as something that looks benign.

Often, trojans are mixed in with applications that downloader’s may need to enable other pieces of software to function.

The best means of avoiding trojans is to be careful what you download and to use a good anti-virus package as a matter of course.
