The Dark Side Of Twitter Trending Topics

One thing that the computer has done over the years is bring people together. Where once people were relegated to only knowing about people that they know in their personal circle of friends, they are now able to reach out and meet people from around the world. All it takes is for one thing similar for these people to be interested in, and they will reach and discuss both the differences and the similarities between the two.

The main cause of this revolution has been the internet. But almost as big of a factor as the internet is, the social networks that sit on top of the networks of the internet can be applauded just as much. While we have always had ways to communicate over the internet it has never been this easy to do so. If you think about the not too distant past, we were able to communicate with each other through forums, chat rooms, instant messaging, and all sorts of other features. But all of those features were sort of niche and you had to be at least a little bit tech savvy to be able to access them. Now with the rise of easy to use social networks that is not the case. Now everyone who is savvy enough to use a cell phone or log online is able to use these networks. And now they are able to experience the joys of being able to communicate with someone on the other side of the world. But while social networks are a great progression, there are dangers to them as well.

While all of the social networks out there have their dark side, in this article we are going to focus on Twitter. Twitter is a surprise hit that started in 2006. No one thought that anyone would be interested in being able to send small text like messages over the internet. If you think about it it’s kind of silly. There are plenty of places where you can place an unlimited amount of text and communicate with people that way. On twitter you are relegated to being able to tweet texts that are up to 140 characters in length. It turned out that people all over the world loved this idea. This way they were able to ingest much more information at any one time. And if they were really interested in the topic that the tweet was talking about they could just look it up online themselves.

But there is a dark side to the tweeting world. And that dark side is when you have to trust people that you do not know personally when it comes to clicking links. When it comes to twitter, one of the biggest appeals is all of the access that you have to different links from around the web. But there is no one who is regulating the links. With each link that you click on you are taking the chance that it will not affect your computer in any negative way.

This is especially true when it comes to the trending topics part of Twitter. If you are not aware, trending topics is the part of twitter that shows what is popular at the moment. When a discussion or a hashtag is joined by a certain amount of people then it becomes a trending topic. These days you will see a lot of spam in the trending topics areas. And that is where you have to be careful. Anyone of those links can lead you to somewhere dangerous that can harm your computer.

When it comes to the trending topics on twitter you have to be really careful when you click on links. If you are not then your computer will pay for it.
