As I’m sure many of you are aware, for the past year and a bit I had been working as the Social Media Manager for Brian Honan’s BH Consulting blog, Security Watch.
What some of you may not know is that I quit the position recently, hence this blog post.

Because I think the time is right to move on to other opportunities.
Being in the position where I can consider alternatives is pretty epic really given how Brian took me on at a time when I was going to throw in the infosec towel for good (the day he offered me the role I had an interview lined up for a second retail job).
So, what are the new opportunities I speak of?
I don’t actually know right now. I’m definitely not complaining, but I have several possibilities that I am discussing currently, as well as several more unread emails to get through – hopefully one or more of those may pan out in the very near future. I’m very fortunate indeed to be in that position as I know many people are nowhere near as lucky as I have been in recent times.
But sometimes you make your own luck.
Or, in my case, you get lucky and team up with someone who goes way above and beyond their role as a boss and actually makes things happen and crafts a huge slice of luck for you. Of course I’m talking about Brian.
A very busy man of influence, he cut me loose to work as I wished but was never far away, offering encouragement and sharing the success that came to Security Watch during my time there.
Working with Brian undoubtedly benefited me in terms of the exposure he generates (calm down Finux) and has opened doors that may have otherwise forever remained shut, and led to introductions that would never have otherwise happened.
For that, and everything else Brian did to benefit me, I will always be grateful.
Thank you Brian.
