Phishing Phone Calls Are Real!

The mind of a hacker trying to make money never ceases to amaze. While most people think that black hat hackers try to have the least amount of human contact as possible that is not always the case. The black hat hacker is more interested in trying to find a way to make a dollar so they will go to any means to be able to get it. One of the ways is through the use of phishing techniques. This technique has been effective for a long time for the black hat hacker but now it is starting to morph into other forms.

Phishing Phone Calls Are Real!

What is phishing?

There are some people out there who do not know what phishing is. It is when a black hat hacker tries to get you to click on a link by posing as someone you trust. This can mean that they are pretending to be an email from a friend or from a web site that you bank with. They will use the same graphics and try to talk to you in the same tone as an email from the normal sender would be. Phishing attacks have been around for awhile but now we are starting to new forms of it.

Phishing phone attacks

Now instead of trying to send you to a malicious web site by clicking on a bad link, they are trying to get to you by making telephone calls now. Thanks to VOiP technology there are a lot of ways where you can have several phone numbers and make dozens of calls at the same time. Some of the black hat hackers use Robo phone calls while others hire people for little money in foreign countries to try out their schemes. They will call you, tell you some phony story, and then try to get you to go to the web site they set up. Once you are there, they try to get you to click on a malicious link. Most people are not expecting an attack by phone so they never see it coming.

Phishing phone attacks are just one more thing we have to worry about when it comes to cyber crime. It kind of makes you wonder what is coming next.
