OpVendetta: Anonymous 5th Of November Campaign Hits PayPal And Symantec

Guy Fawkes day – November the 5th – seems to hold some special significance for hacking group Anonymous who again seem to have begun a hacking spree. Using the date mentioned in the film V for Vendetta, web site defacement and online protest seems to be the order of the day.

Anon 5th November

The main events so far, though not officially confirmed it would seem, are that user and employee data from PayPal and Symantec have been dumped. It also appears that Australian government websites have been targeted too.

Additionally, NBC and a Lady GaGa fansite have also been allegedly defaced with the following message being left –

“Remember, remember the fifth of November. The gunpowder treason and plot.”

The group also have a rally planned – in V for Vendetta style – at the Houses of Parliament at 8 p.m. today. I suspect many UK supporters will done the now famous masks, especially since such action has now been outlawed in Canada.
