Make Your Own Personal Cheat Sheet Of Web Site Security Reminders

Even though you may do a job over and over again, there are some parts of the job which are so complicated that it becomes impossible for you to remember everything about it. You need something that is going to remind you little facts about the job that you might miss. This might be a note, or a symbol that is somewhere on your desk. Whatever works to help remind you of how to get the job done.

In the world of computers and especially programming, people create PDF cheat sheets to help remind them of what needs to be done. Even though you may have been a programmer for most of your adult life, it still does not mean that you know every command of a programming language. And then you add to that, the fact that you mostly have to deal with several different systems and languages when you are programming for the web. To help keep this information all in order, you can use a cheat sheet.

But a cheat sheet is just not for programmers. It is for anyone who uses a computer on a regular basis. There are tons of cheat sheets that you can use no matter which computer specialty that you are in. And this includes computer security. You can find plenty of cheat sheets that will help make sure that your system is secure the right way. But only you know your particular set up so it might help if you make your own version of a cheat sheet. This way, you will be able to remind yourself all of the things that need to be done to keep your system safe.

How to make your own cheat sheet

It is not hard to make your own cheat sheet. All you need to do is write down all of your rules in an editor like Google docs. Once you have finished now you can save the file as either a Word doc or a PDF. It probably helps make the document more portable if you save it as a PDF. So now if you ever forget a step, all you have to do is look at your cheat sheet and everything will be alright.

  1. I encourage cheat sheets, updating security isnt one thing at the top of most users list of things to do, and i think many have just become to dependent on auto updating.
While auto updating is fine users really need to check frequently to make sure they do have the latest updates by doing it the old fashion was – manually updating – clicking the ‘update now’ button.
We depend on the programs we use to keep us updated thus making a big mistake. All updates dont come thru the auto updating process for one reason or another at times.

    • Definitely agree with that Dave – we all want the easiest life we can get and it is so, so easy to overlook even the most obvious of things at times.
