LulzSec’s ‘Topiary’ Arrested And One Other Detained

According to Metropolitan Police two operations have today led to the arrest of one alleged hacker and the questioning of another.

The arrest took place in the Shetland Islands and is rumoured to be ‘Topiary’ who many believe to be the voice of LulzSec and Anonymous as well as the writer of the former’s Twitter account. According to the Metropolitan Police he is currently being transported to London.

A Met Police spokesman said:

“The man arrested is believed to be linked to an ongoing international investigation in to the criminal activity of the so-called “hacktivist” groups Anonymous and LulzSec, and uses the online nickname “Topiary” which is presented as the spokesperson for the groups.”

It has also been reported that another alleged hacker, a 17 year old man from Lincolnshire, has been brought in for questioning whilst an address is searched. He has not been arrested at this time.

Today’s arrest comes 5 weeks after another alleged LulzSec hacktivist, Ryan Cleary, was arrested in Essex. He has since been charged with five offences under the Criminal Law and Computer Misuse Acts, including an alleged hacking attack against Soca’s website.

How many more arrests can LulzSec survive before their boat lacks enough crewmen to pilot it through the storm they have surrounded themselves with?

  1. curious says:

Is the other guy confirmed as being lulzsec member?

  2. Topiary depsite all the media hype about him being a “hacker” was a voice, he wrote releases and articles he has admitted himself many time he cannot hack, if it’s true they caught a PR guy.

    • I guess we’ll know soon enough who and ‘what’ the police have caught. Whatever the rights or wrongs are with LulzSec’s actions I think he’ll likely face some serious charges if warranted, PR guy or not.
