It Takes Guts To Say ‘Yes’ To The Jesus Hoax

in Hoaxes And Conspiracies

That Jesus guy seems to be popular right now.

First he popped up in Egypt to save a couple of kids and then there was the hoax about a movie that supposedly claimed that Jesus was gay.

Now there is an email stating that  ‘It Takes Guts to Say Jesus’ could lead to the total erasure of your hard drive -

SUBJECT: Important Virus Warning

If you receive an email titled ‘It Takes Guts to Say ‘Jesus”.

DO NOT open it.

It will erase everything on your hard drive.

Forward this letter out to as many people as you can.

This is a new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it.

This information was announced yesterday morning from IBM; please share it with everyone that might access the internet.

Once again, pass this along to EVERYONE in your address book so that this may be stopped.

AOL has said that this is a very dangerous virus and that there is NO remedy for it at this time.

Please practice cautionary measures and forward this to all your online friends ASAP.

Of course the email is bogus.

It is not possible, at least as far as I am aware, for your hard drive to be erased as a consequence of an email message being read.

Despite what the email says, the inclusion of the names of IBM and AOL is not because they are associated with it in anyway but just to try and lend some false validity to the message.

The virus is not real so do not panic and don’t forward the email onto your friends.

Well, that is usually quite a giveaway but it’s not a failsafe means of knowing its a hoax.

Very true but they do ask recipients to spread them.
