There has been a lot of speculation recently as to whether Joaquin Phoenix is operating a giant hoax by saying that he is giving up acting in order to pursue a career as a rap artist.

Popular opinion seems to suggest that the actor is either pulling a big stunt in order to increase his profile or that he is making some sort of arty documentary with his brother-in-law, Casey Affleck.

Gwyneth Paltrow worked with Phoenix on what was, allegedly, his last film – ‘TwoLovers’.

Here is what she thinks -

It seems quite obvious that Paltrow isn’t at all convinced by Joaquin’s change of career.

When she was asked about working with Joaquin Phoenix she makes it clear that she doesn’t believe this is for real and then goes on to mention the now infamous appearance on The Letterman show as a ‘performance’.

That leaves me, for one, believing that Phoenix is most definitely not actively pursuing a career in the rap industry.

It will be interesting to see what his next move is…
