Yes, when you move your business to the web you just have to accept that security comes along with it as well. It doesn’t matter if you are running a small company. Web security is still something that you have to think about. Black hat hackers do not care about how big the company is as long as they are able to make some money. So the first thing that should come to your mind when you start to talk about adding security measures is the cost of the whole thing. When you are a small business you really do have to worry about trying to keep cost down. So you might be still in small business mode when you are looking at security solutions. And one of the things that you might try to do is have the same person who built your web site be the security guy as well.

And that is not a smart thing to do. Web security is a very complicated matter and it needs someone who specializes in it. Your web guy who may know a few security tricks but he is not going to be able to go against professional black hat hackers when it comes to protecting your web site and your network. So you need someone who is going to be able to put their full attention into the job. At the very least you need someone who is considered to be an expert in the field.

The best part is that you do not even need someone who is going to work for you full time. And they do not have to even live in the area. There are many services on the web of people who will check your site to make sure it is able to go against the bad guys that are on the web. They will first try to break into the website itself to see where the holes may be at. They will then look around the source code even closer and make sure that good security practices are being enforced inside of the code base. Then they will give you a checklist of things that you need to do to make sure you are secure when it comes to your site. And if they prove to be good at their job is a good idea to keep using them on a regular basis to make sure that your website stays safe from the bad guys.

So when you are getting ready to put a professional web site on the web, make sure that you think of everything. And that includes how to secure the web site just in case the bad guys want to attack. Remember to always use professionals to get the job done.
