How To Check You Have The Latest Version Of Java Installed

Are you still using Java?

Oh (there have been a few zero days recently).

You are.

In that case, you will want to make sure you are using the most up to date and ‘secure’ version possible then (or disable it). But do you know if you are? If not, Java Tester is a site you need to visit right now.

Java-Tester

Upon visiting Java Tester you’ll see a screen very much like the one above. Click on the Test the version of Java your browser is using link you see in the box and then wait for a few seconds.

You’ll then see your result – a pink box will appear showing which version of Java you have on your machine –

Java-result

At the time of writing the latest version is 17.0_17 so it looks like I’m ok, or at least as ok as anyone who has Java can be these days.

Whatever result you get, scroll down the page on Java Tester and you’ll see a list of the most recent updates so you can see if you do indeed have the latest version available. If you don’t – UPDATE RIGHT NOW !!!!
