DIY Computer Repair Can Save You Money

There are many computer repair technicians who will be more than glad to resolve your computer problem but this service comes at a cost.

You shouldn’t be too surprised to find out that you could be charged even $200 or even more for the computer repair technician’s work and this amount doesn’t cover the parts that need to be replaced.

You could eliminate these costs, and only spend money on the part that has to be replaced, if you take some time and dedicate yourself to learning about some of the repairs that you can do for yourself instead of paying someone else to do them for you.

There is a great deal of valuable information about computer repair in DIY Computer Repair Guides that you could purchase and avoid spending money on something you most surely feel capable of doing yourself.

Formatting the computer is a very good example of a common problem that many people face and think is very hard to overcome (it isn’t).

A DIY Repair Example : Using System Restore In Windows

To prove you that it can actually be quite easy here you have a few steps that will help you understand how it works.

First Step: Start by finding the “Repair and Recovery” disc you have been provided with when you purchased your computer or the folder that contains these files on your computer.

Second Step: You don’t want to lose any important information so it is better that you back-up everything even if it can take some time to do so.

Third Step: If your operating system Windows Vista  or Windows 7 then you should continue by going to Start > All Programs > Maintenance > Backup & Restore Center.

Fourth Step: Once you got to the Backup & Restore Center click on “Repair Windows using System Restore” and after that all you need to do is follow the simple tasks asked and the rest should be quite easy.

There are lots of people who are already familiar with these steps but also others who are still in the learning phase.

DIY Computer Repair Guides can help very much in picking up and learning about this subject and they are easy to be found in most local stores and much easier on the internet.

Of course there are some tasks you will not be able to handle in which case the help of a professional is the only thing that solves the problem.

But when it comes to smaller issues like computer viruses this can be easily overcome by learning some basic techniques and methods.

  1. Thought you were going to dive right into my territory there with hardware advice and then you u-turned and talked about software 🙂

But nevertheless the advice is right – as a veteran (some 26yrs now) of the computer repair world and earning my living from this I am constantly amazed that people don’t know – or simply won’t give it a go.

I don’t know cars – but I’m as capable as the next person in reading a Haynes manual and so long as one takes their time, asks questions when they need to, then anyone can do this. The same goes for computers – but I find people don’t want to learn.

Strangely I was discussing similar thing with an army captain the other day and I said to him that “I wouldn’t know where to start with his job” and his reply was the same back at me.

We all have limits and it’s a wise person that knows where they are.

    • The easiest way to learn something is to have a go and fail, or fail a few times, as not many people are successful in any field in life without making mistakes along the way.

I’m not sure I’d agree with your car repair example though – that can bequite tricky in terms of lifting heavy objects at time, but certainly lesser repairs can be effected by just about anyone who is willing to have a go.
