Are you looking for a way to prevent Windows 7 from storing your recently opened programs and items in the Start Menu and taskbar? If so, this quick and easy guide will show you how to achieve that goal:
Firstly, you need to click on the Start icon and then click on Control Panel. This will lead you to the window seen above. Click on Appearance and Personalization.
Doing so will lead you to the window seen in the screenshot above. I’ve circled Taskbar and Start Menu and you’ll notice that one of the options below that is Customize the Start menu. As you’ve probably guessed, you need to click on that now.
A small window, as seen above, will now be opened. You should already be on the Start Menu tab. Under Privacy you’ll see that two check boxes are ticked. You will need to untick both of these.
After unchecking Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu and Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar you will need to click on Apply and then OK.
Thats it. Mission accomplished.
