Several State police forces have been reporting that an email reporting a ’31 day speeding ticket frenzy’ is a hoax.

Whilst genuine traffic enforcement measures involve uniformed officers in marked cars the email warns of plain clothes police in unmarked vans and lorries.

The email also suggests that the month long operation is running purely to generate revenue through the issue of citations.

Several states have been mentioned in the email, including -

  • Tennessee
  • Michigan
  • Kentucky
  • Texas
  • New Jersey
  • California

If you receive such an email please don’t forward it as it is nothing more than an urban legend.
