Don’t Get Burned By The Cheap Cigarettes Scam

If you are a smoker, especially here in the UK, you will know that the cost of maintaining your addiction is increasing rapidly every year – cigarettes are well over four pounds for a pack of 20 now.

So maybe you’d be interested in this email I just received?

Offer for UK residents only.
We will deliver Cigarettes Marlboro Light from the factory Philip Morris
up-to-door to your home address in UK.
You pay 2.16?/pack including delivery, postal and all other expenses.
Minimal order will apply.
If you are interested please send blank e-mail for details at:
mlmarlboro@yahoo.com
Please specify just one word “info” in subject line.

Now, I have no idea whether or not that is a genuine offer. If you read it closely you’ll notice that the writing style wasn’t particularly good quality.

Also, if it was a true offer from the manufacturer then why is the email address for replies on a free yahoo account???

Also, why is the return email address different to the sending one of info@ajsg.com?

There are a large number of websites on the internet offering to sell cigarettes cheaply, as duty free or otherwise.

Personally, I am very suspicious of this type of site so have never used one.

However, I know people who have and guess what!?!

They got burned!

There’s a few possibilities for what may happen should you try and purchase cheap cigarettes from one of these sites -

  • the site is a total scam and you never receive your order after paying
  • there are hidden postage costs which double your payment, making the cigarettes at least as expensive as they would have been at your local newsagent.
  • the site is a scam that takes your money AND your credit card details for future fraud.

So if you want to cut the cost of smoking then the only sensible advice is to give up! (Easier said than done, I know).
