Creating Value For Your Company With Your Security Knowledge

When you are not running your own business it is hard to remember or learn certain tenets that every business owners has to understand. One of those lessons that you have to learn is that everyone and everything has a value associated with it. No matter how hard we try to think otherwise, it is true. When you are running a business you have to look at the value that everyone brings to the table. If you do not do this then you will find yourself quickly out of business and no one that works at that company will have a job. You always have to look at the cost and benefit of everything that is in that company and that includes the people to.

So if you are someone who has a certain skillset then you have to remember that the skillset has a value that is attached to it. The company is not hiring you because they like your look. They are hiring you because you bring a certain amount of skills to the table. And that set of skills will allow them to either make more money or protect the money that they have already made. So as a security researcher, if you remember that then you will be able to utilize your skill set to be able to make a real nice living. It will not matter what type of economy we are in, if you utilize your skills the right way you will be able to make money no matter what the shape of economy is.

That is why you want to look at the rest of the industry in regards to pay to make sure you are not getting ripped off by your job. You want your pay scale to be at least almost level to what everyone else is getting who know how to do the job that you know how to do. But you also have to remember that your location also plays a role in how much you are going to get paid as well. You cannot expect to make the same kind of money down south in Alabama as you would if you were someone who lived in New York. Your location will play a real big role in how much money you make so you have to make sure you always take that into consideration.

But you can also work in making yourself more valuable as well. You do not have to be stagnant when it comes to the value that you bring to the table. You can work on making yourself look more attractive to the people who you work for and anyone else who might want to recruit you. In the computer security industry there are several ways that you can do this. The first step is to increase your knowledge base and become an expert in it. The next step that you can take is getting your name out there by writing articles or creating and publishing a book. After that you can start to show off your expertise by appearing at different conferences around the world.

So as you can see, the number one step in adding value to your name is getting your name more widely known in your industry. Once that happens and your name starts to grow, your value will start to go up and up. The security industry is all about accomplishment and acknowledgement of that accomplishment. Only then will you able to raise the value level of your name.

      Hi Bill,

Whats best for you will depend somewhat on how you use your PC though I would certainly recommend Bitdefender myself (and the independent labs rate it highly too).
