Since most of our work is done on the web it really helps that the modern day browser is so powerful. There are a lot of us out there who do not even use anything else but our browsers when we use our computers. The web has become the killer application for computers these days. So if you already do everything that you need to do on web there is not much else that you need to do when it comes to the rest of your computer. Since you use the browser so often you really have to start thinking to yourself do you really use the full power of the browser as much as you can? Are there features that you are not using when you set up your browser? For most people the answer is probably yes.
A feature that a lot of people do not use when it comes to the modern day browser is the plugin features. Plugins are little scripts that allow you to extend the power of the browser. For example if you want your browser to be able to tell you what the weather is going to be like on a certain day then you can just install a plugin that will sit in the bottom of your browser and tell you the weather. Now there is no need for you to go to the web site and see. It is right there in front of you. That is just one of the many things that you can do with browser plugins. There a bunch of different plugins out there and there are sure to be ones that you would find useful.
But you have to be really careful when it comes to browser plugins. While there are a ton of useful ones out there, there are some that are not so good. Anyone can make a plugin and sometimes the bad guys are the ones that do so. And if you are not careful they can use that plugin as a backdoor to be able to get into the rest of your computer. That is why you have to think of plugins as just another program that you put in your computer. While they may only interact with you in your browser, they can cause the same damage that a rogue program would cause.
You should not be scared of plugins but if you are going to use them make sure that you get them from a safe place. Either go to the official repository of your browser plugins – when they are in there they are usually checked – or, if you use a third party, make sure that it is a third party that you really do trust in.
