There are some news reports emerging on Sky and the BBC that are saying a 19 year old has been arrested. It is suggested that the hacker could be one of the masterminds behind LulzSec, the hacking group which has gained some notoriety recently for allegedly hacking high profile sites such as Sony, the CIA and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca).
the beginning of the end for LulzSec?
The reports suggest that the suspect was arrested in Wickford, Essex (which is not far from where I live) under the Computer Misuse Act and Fraud Act in a joint operation between the Police Central e-Crime Unit (PCeU) and the FBI. Computer equipment found at the scene will undoubtedly undergo forensic examination.
Could this be the end for LulzSec?
Or are other members likely to be too well hidden to get picked up in the aftermath?
I’ve just spotted that Graham Cluley at Sophos has picked up on this story as well so head on over to there as I’m sure he’ll get early updates.
