Beware Of Strangers Bearing Webcams

in Internet Fraud

A great many people frequent online dating agencies and chat rooms, looking for love, relationships or whatever else floats their boat.

Through these “meeting places” they often end up looking for private chats, away from the prying eyes of everyone else using the service.

Instant Messengers

In today’s technological age these sorts of experiences can be enhanced, through services such as Microsoft’s MSN messenger, by using microphones and webcams.

So what do you do if you haven’t got a webcam and the person you like offers to send you one?

After all, it’s a generous offer and it would be rude to refuse wouldn’t it?

Webcam Fun

Whilst there’s no harm in owning a webcam and doing what you will with it, you do have to consider the fact that to receive such a gift instantly involves giving out your home address.

This may carry some inherent risk in itself.

Also, you should be aware that it is quite easy to capture either live feeds or still images from a webcam if you so wish.

With that in mind I feel now is a good time to tell you about one of the latest scams in internet dating -

Scammers offer to send webcams to unsuspecting people they befriend on internet chat sites and dating areas.

Using every trick in the book they build rapport and comfort levels quickly, putting their victim at ease.

In return for buying you the webcam all they want is for you to pose nude in front of it – BEWARE!!!!!!

Naked

As soon as you appear naked in front of the webcam they are capturing the images.

Why?

For blackmail of course!

The scammer will require payment in order to keep the photos from being plastered all over the internet and, believe me, they have huge email lists they can send them to too!

Pay up and they will be back for more, time and again.
