The mobile revolution is on its way and if you are ready for it then you are in a great position. If you are not ready for the mobile revolution then you will feel as if you are left behind in the next few years. There is going to be a lot of money made in the mobile world so you have to make sure that you are able to hop on quickly. But the one thing that you have to remember when it comes to this mobile revolution is that security is of the same importance as it is on the normal computers.
As a matter of fact the security issue might be a lot more important on the mobile side these days. And that is because there are not enough people taking security seriously when it comes to mobile. The great thing about the mobile devices compared to the laptop and the desktop is that you can use the mobile as an active part of your everyday life. And some companies have taken that to mean using the mobile device as a replacement for your wallet. That’s right, instead of you taking your wallet out and paying with a credit card or cash; you will instead take your mobile phone out and make the payment instead. We are seeing examples of this already with technologies like Square and NFC which allow you to take and make payments with your mobile phone. And we are going to start seeing a lot more of that type of action.
But like we said earlier in the article, with this type of monetary action going on, security becomes even more important. While you make purchases on your laptops and desktops all of the time, it is a lot different when you are making purchases with the actual device. Now you not only have to worry about a black hat hacker getting into your system and taking out personal data, you also have to worry about your phone getting stolen as well. Now the bad guys who actually take your phone will not just have access to your contacts, they will have your wallet as well. It is almost the same as someone stealing your credit card and using it at a couple of stores before you find out about it.
So if you are going to use your device in this manner, you have to be sure that you think about safety seriously. Remember, when you are using your phone as a wallet, you now have two vectors of attacks that you have to worry about. You have the online traditional black hat hacker method of attack and you have the even more traditional, thief on the subway form of attack. Either way could end up with you losing a lot of money.
That is why you should take advantage of the many safeguards that come with your phone. Make sure that no one has a way in unless they know the password to your phone. Also make sure that any data that needs to be encrypted on your phone is encrypted. The best way to do that with your passwords is through the use of a password manager. And look over your phone for anymore security procedures that you can add on top of it. If you are going to be using your mobile phone as a wallet then you should know the phone inside and out. That way you are prepared just in case of any type of emergency.
