Something I’ve noticed on Twitter recently is the fact that a good number of people are trying out the new Windows 7 beta download.
Unfortunately, however, many are having issues with anti-virus solutions as there appear to be several compatibility issues at this time.
Obviously running and maintaining anti-virus software is a critical part of maintaining the security of your computer and avoiding nasty surprises, such as the confiker virus.
The good news though is that Microsoft have been actively working with the security software providers in order to find a solution.
From today the following anti-virus solutions are now available for the new operating system -
- Symantec offers Norton 360 3.0 Beta
- AVG offers AVG Internet Security and AVG Anti-Virus
- Kaspersky has a beta version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7
All of the above are free and Microsoft continues to work with other antivirus software providers to ensure that security software solutions will be available for both Windows 7 Beta and also Windows 7 RTM.
Also, the beta of Morro (Microsoft’s free AV) will be due soon…

I had issues with the old Norton on windows 7 but the new one you mentioned works just fine
About time too, I was having problems getting any to work with W7
Which anti-virus package(s) did you try Dave?
Phew, glad to hear it works ok
I must admit that AVG is probably my favourite anti-virus so I’m rather glad to hear that it works fine with w7. Thanks for letting me know Ayesha.
