3 Ways To Ensure That Your Online Bank Account Stays Secured

The internet has made it easier to do a lot of things that used to be a hassle for us to get done.

Whether it is, from finding out information to being able to work from home, no one would argue that the internet has made our world a little bit easier than it used to be.

Even in the world of banking, the internet has made huge changes that make it a lot easier.

But with those changes come a whole new dynamic that we have to worry about.

Bank Robberies Without The Masks

When we used to hear about bank robberies in the past, it was a couple of guys going in and robbing the bank with guns and a black mask.

Now when we hear about bank robberies, it is online and through peoples individual accounts.

With all of the advances in technology also come advances in crime.

This is why you must be aware that criminals are looking to steal your money from your online account.

The only way to fight that is to be prepared and to be alert.

I will give you three ways that you can help prevent your money from being stolen.

Protect Your Money

1. The easiest way for someone to be able to get access to your account is to get your online credentials.

The way that they are able to do that is to have you give it to them.

Even though you are thinking to yourself that you would never give them that type of access, yes, it can happen to you.

They are able to do this through an attack using what is called a phishing site.

This is a web site that is made up to look like your banking site.

You think that you are logging into your bank but in reality you are actually logging into a fake site.

You can prevent this from happening by making sure you check the web URL in the address bar.

It doesn’t matter if the site looks like your bank site if the web address is not correct.

By looking at the web address alone, you will able to stop 80% of the ways that people will try to get into your bank account.

2. Another way to prevent your online account from having an unauthorized entrance is to make sure that you keep your email secured.

Your email holds a lot of information about you, even some things that you may have forgotten.

If they are able to get into your email account they can tell the bank that they forgot the password to your account and they will resend it to that address.

Any of the security questions that the bank may ask can also be in your email account.

With all of this information they will have the means to be able to get into your account.

3. The last way that you can make sure that your online bank account is secure is to make sure that your passwords are in a safe place.

The best way to do this is to use a password protection software like keepass.

There are a couple of these solutions on the market but you should make sure that the one you choose encrypts your data.

This way, even if the attackers were somehow able to get to the place on your computer where the passwords are stored, they still wouldn’t be able to see them without the proper authorization.

If you follow these three steps, you will make it harder for black hat hackers to be able to get into your bank account.
